Sean Lee Profile

All of the 2nd round tackles and safeties are sitting there, and the cowboys throw a bit of a curveball and go with Sean Lee an Inside Linebacker from Penn State.  To move up they traded with the Eagles and swapped 2nd picks and gave Philly the 4th they got in the Dez Bryant trade.

I don't know quite if I like this pick or not yet.  Lee is a bit undersized for an inside backer (6'2 236 lbs) but has good speed (4.7) and was a productive player.  I know the Cowboys brought him in for a few visits and really lked him and must be grooming him for a replacement for Brooking.  This may also officially spell the end of the Barbie Carpenter era.

But let's get to Sean Lee as a player.  Lee is a player with good athleticism and and range with great sideline to sideline ability.  He shows good strength and is a reliable tackler.  He's got all the cliche white guy tools (Leader, instincts, good football IQ, Hard Worker who makes up for lack of size with hard work) with athleticism to boot.  I think he's a very good player who has a chance to be a lot better than what they have once Brooking is gone.  As far as weaknesses he's not a great coverage guy, and not a fantastic blitzer.

The Cowboys got a really good player here and I don't know what their board looks like but they passed on several safeties and tackles.  Without another pick slated today they might miss out on some players.  On the other hand, lots of people are sliding and they may feel good about having someone slide to the,.  We'll see as we move on, but right now Sean Lee is the pick and should be a very good player.
