I will explain here why I think the 1960s Green Bay Packers were the best NFL dynasty of all time. Of course the 60 Packers had some stiff competition for that claim. The '70s Pittsburgh Steelers, '50s Cleveland Browns, '80s San Francisco 49ers, '90s Dallas Cowboys, 2000s New England Patriots could all claim to be the best NFL dynasty of all time. I rank the Patriots very high though due to their dominating during a period of free agency which is difficult to do. The whole Spygate cheating incident marred them though in my eyes.

But I think the Green Bay Packer's of the 1960s were the best NFL dynasty ever. They won five NFL championships including the first two Super Bowls and had 12 Hall of Fame players and one of the best coaches ever in Vince Lombardi. When a team wins the Super Bowl they are given the Lombardi Trophy which tells you what the NFL thinks about the coach.

The 1960s Green Bay Packers gave us names that will forever be a part of NFL history. Lombardi, Starr, McGee, Taylor, Adderley, Ray Nitschke and others. Few NFL teams can match the talent accumulated by the 1960s Green Bay Packers. Of course with no free agency it was easy for the Packers to keep their great players but they had to find them first.

Vince Lombardi was the biggest reason why the 1960s Green Back Packers were the best NFL dynasty ever. I keep saying the 1960s Green Bay Packers but they actually stopped their run after 1968 when Lombardi quit.

From 1960 to 1967 the Green Bay Packers won 115 games, lost 84 and tied 4 games. They won the NFL Championship in 1961, 1962, 1966 and won the Super Bowl in 1966 and 1967.

Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers just outworked everyone else. Yes the talent was there but so was the determination. Back then a player could make more money in the playoffs than he may have earned all year and the Packers wanted to win.

Vince Lombardi wasn't an offensive genius in the sense of a Paul Brown or Bill Walsh. Lombardi used a few plays and perfected them. Every Green Bay Packer knew his duties for each play and they did their job. Their will to win is a huge reason why the 1960s era Packers are the best dynasty in NFL history.
