Looks like Dave Wannstedt could do better following his split with Pitt than the university did with its bizarre and complicated efforts to replace him.

Wannstedt, who was a head coach of the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears, is suddenly in demand as a defensive coordinator in the NFL. ESPN reports that Wannstedt could have his choice of jobs. One primary option could be in San Diego where Chargers coach Norv Turner is seeking someone to replace the departed Ron Rivera. Wannstedt and Turner, of course, were coordinators under Jimmy Johnson with the Dallas Cowboys.

The report also indicates that Rivera might have interest in hiring Wannstedt in Dallas. Rivera finished his playing career with the Bears under Wannstedt. The Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns could also have interest in him.
