On Sunday October 30, 2011, the Dallas Cowboys will visit the Philadelphia Eagles. These NFC East foes form one of the biggest rivalries in the National Football League (NFL). The Eagles are 2-4 but they can certainly win this game. Here are some reasons why the Eagles can defeat the Cowboys on Sunday.
The Eagles Run the Ball
The Eagles are the number one rushing team in the NFL. They average 170 yards rushing per game. When a team can run like that it usually has success. Despite this rushing dominance, the Eagles have found ways to lose. But they can establish the run against the Cowboys. That will open up the passing game. Speaking of which…
The Eagles Have Michael Vick
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is a nightmare for opposing defenses. Vick put his foot in his mouth when he said opposing defenses could not stop him. However, this is true at times. Vick can make all the throws. He can elude pass-rushers like no other quarterback can. But what makes Vick so dangerous is that he can run. He leads the NFL with 8.3 yards per carry. Vick is the reason why the Eagles are the top-ranked rushing team. He averages 62 yards rushing per game. This is why Vick is so difficult to stop. How do you defend against a player who can beat you in so many ways?
The Cowboys Have Tony Romo
On the other side of the field is Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Romo has been wildly inconsistent this year. He plays great for a few quarters then he literally throws it away at the end. He plays a mistake-free game followed by a mediocre game. Romo is "like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." Even if it looks like he is on his game, it can collapse like a house of cards. It is hard to execute a game plan when your leader can fall apart at any moment. The Eagles will be counting on that.
The Eagles can defeat the Cowboys on Sunday. Their biggest edge could be the quarterback position. If "bad" Romo shows up, it will be an even bigger edge.

Edwin Torres has been a fan of the Dallas Cowboys since the days of Tony Dorsett and Roger Staubach. He enjoyed watching the Dallas teams of the 90s dominate opponents on both sides of the ball. Living in New Jersey, he is sandwiched between Giants and Eagles fans. But that has never deterred him from being a fan of America's team.
