WHY THE DALLAS COWBOYS WILL BREAK MY HEART AGAIN THIS WEEK: FAN VIEW

It has been tough being a Dallas Cowboys fan this season. Fans like me have witnessed many heartbreaking losses. I fear that one final painful moment is coming this week. On Sunday January 01, 2012, the Cowboys visit the New York Giants in a game that will decide the NFC East. Here are some reasons why I think the Cowboys will break my heart again this week.

All Banged Up

The Cowboys enter this game all banged up. Quarterback Tony Romo left the previous game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a bruised throwing hand. Running back Felix Jones has been battling a hamstring injury. Left guard Montrae Holland is out with a torn biceps. This is not the way the Cowboys want to face the Giants in a game that is essentially a playoff game.

Weak Finish

These Cowboys are not known for finishing seasons strong. December has been particularly unkind. Although this must-win game is technically in January, the Cowboys have themselves to blame for letting it get to this point. This looks like another weak finish for the Cowboys.

Eli Manning

The Giants have also been inconsistent this season. But Giants quarterback Eli Manning has a chance to erase all that and propel them into the playoffs. It worries me that Manning and the Giants have this opportunity. Romo has played well at quarterback for the Cowboys down the stretch, but I think Manning is going to outplay him this week.

Defenseless?

Manning shredded the Cowboys defense in Week 14, throwing for 400 yards. The defense did not sack Manning. That did not work then nor will it work this week against the Giants. The Cowboys must get to Manning or else it will be a long day for the Cowboys' defense. The secondary is not good enough on its own. They need pressure up front to be effective.

It may not sound like it, but I am a Cowboys fan. I have been for a long time. I know this team. This is why I am worried about the game this week. The Cowboys can also erase the heartbreaking moments of this season by winning this Sunday. But I do not see that happening. I am hopeful, though. I hope the Cowboys prove me wrong.
