If the draftniks are on the money when it comes to Von Miller, there’s no chance he will be around when the Dallas Cowboys draft at No. 9 in the first round.

But, boy, would the Texas A&M product like to play for the Cowboys. Miller has consistently been ranked as a top-five prospect and he only helped his stock on Wednesday when he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds at his pro day.

Miller was hoping the Cowboys would show more interest in him last month at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. In fact, he loitered outside their hotel suite hoping they’d call him in. Miller talked about trying to recruit the Cowboys The Galloway and Co. Show on 103.3 KESN in Dallas, according to the Dallas Morning News.

“I was kind of bummed out that I didn't get an interview from the Cowboys,” Miller said. “I kind of hovered around their suite, and whenever they got free time in between college guys, guys they were meeting with, I'd kind of go in there and kind of talk to the scouts and try to pull Coach (Jason) Garrett aside and Coach (Rob) Ryan and see if I could get a little session with them, a two-minute thing where I could talk to them. I was trying my hardest to meet with all those guys, but they told me they have like a hometown (day).”

That hometown day is a day in which NFL teams can invite local prospects to come to their facility. They don’t count against the 30 official visits each time is allotted. But for the Cowboys to have a legitimate shot at Miller, they’ll likely have to make an expensive trade up in the first round.

“I wanted to be like a little gnat. I wanted to hover around their suite and let them know that I really would appreciate a meeting. But it's all business, and whenever I get my chance with the Cowboys, I'll be well prepared for my opportunity.

"I always saw myself with a blue star on the side of my helmet. Growing up in Dallas, all my life I've never ever lived anywhere else. So of course I'm a big Cowboys fan. Our game room at my house is fully dedicated to the Cowboys. We've got a Ring of Honor just in our game room at home."
