It's the legal brief no NFL coaches seem to want to endorse.

It's the legal brief filed with the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals by the NFL Coaches Association asking the owners to end the NFL lockout, siding with the players.

Consequently, coaches don't want to be perceived as having anything to do with it.

That includes Kansas City Chiefs coach Todd Haley.

“In talking to all of our guys, there was a great deal of surprise this was filed on their behalf,” Haley told the Kansas City Star. “Nobody was aware that it was going to happen. This was not on behalf of the coaches.”

Haley isn't alone in basically giving the brief the Heisman.

Other coaches to say they didn't approve or no about the brief includes Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak, Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio and assistant coaches for the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys.

“Whoever handles this situation the best once we get back to football — which I’m counting on — will have an advantage,” Haley said. “We’ve got to be one of those teams. That’s been our focus. We really haven’t been caught up in anything else. Whether that’s hard or easy for some guys, that’s what I’ve tried to keep pushing.

"We need to do our best job of coaching this year in this situation. We’ve got a great group of coaches, and I feel like we’ve done a good job in getting ready for all scenarios. When the whistle blows, we’ve got to be ready to go.”
