Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has had some great games in the National Football League (NFL). But his bad games have been too frequent and incredibly painful for Cowboys fans. Here are the five worst performances by Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

5. Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys, December 16, 2007

With girlfriend Jessica Simpson watching in a pink No. 9 jersey, Romo played one of his worst games in the NFL. Romo threw three interceptions and completed just 13 passes. He earned a career-low 22.2 quarterback rating. Romo failed to lead the offense into the end zone. The Cowboys lost the game 10-6.

4. Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles, December 28, 2008

The Cowboys visited the Eagles on the last day of the 2008 NFL season knowing that a win would launch them into the playoffs. Unfortunately, that did not happen for the Cowboys. The Eagles thrashed the Cowboys 44-6 and earned the playoff spot instead. It was a terrible performance by Romo. He threw one interception, fumbled twice and never found the end zone. To make things worse, Romo collapsed in the shower after the game.

3. New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys, September 20, 2009

The stage was set for the Cowboys. It was the home opener of their $1.15 billion stadium. It was the largest crowd to ever watch a regular-season game. It was the Giants, their NFC East rivals. On one of the biggest stages of his career, Romo disappointed again. Romo did rush and pass for touchdowns. But his three interceptions resulted in three touchdowns by the Giants. Romo posted a regrettable 29.6 passer rating. The Giants won the game 33-31 on a last-second field goal.

2. Dallas Cowboys at New York Jets, September 11, 2011

The Cowboys started the 2011 NFL season with yet another Romo heartbreak. Romo actually played well in this game but his mistakes in the fourth quarter fueled the comeback by the Jets. With a chance to increase the lead, Romo fumbled the ball near the goal-line while scrambling. Late in the fourth quarter, Romo threw a bad interception that resulted in the game-winning field goal by the Jets. The Cowboys squandered a 14-point fourth quarter lead, thanks mostly to Romo.

1. Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys, October 02, 2011

Three weeks after the collapse against the Jets, Romo eclipsed his shameful achievement. Romo played very well into the third quarter, leading the Cowboys to a 24-point lead. Then it turned ugly for him. Romo threw two interceptions that were both returned for touchdowns. His third interception paved the way for the winning touchdown by the Lions. Romo inexplicably handed the game to the Lions after building a seemingly insurmountable 24-point lead.

Romo has had other bad games. These are five of his worst performances in the NFL.

Edwin Torres has been a fan of the Dallas Cowboys since the days of Tony Dorsett and Roger Staubach. He enjoyed watching the Dallas teams of the 90s dominate opponents on both sides of the ball. Living in New Jersey, he is sandwiched between Giants and Eagles fans. But that has never deterred him from being a fan of America's team.
