A fractured rib and punctured lung in an overtime road victory is the kind of stuff that might prove to be a launching point in the career of Tony Romo.
Dallas Cowboys backers can certainly hope so. For the time being, it’s the stuff of the NFC offensive player of the week. The club announced this morning that despite missing the majority of the third quarter Sunday at New Orleans, Romo has been selected for the award as he threw for 345 yards and two touchdowns in a victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
The game-winning field goal was set up by Romo’s 77-yard pass to Jesse Holley. It marks the fifth time in Romo’s career he has won the award and the first since 2007.
