The Dallas Cowboys head into their Week 9 game with the Settle Seahawks with a number of injuries on their roster. While Seattle shouldn't prove to be too much trouble for the Cowboys, Dallas needs to heal up before they head to Buffalo the following week.
Probably the least troublesome loss for the Cowboys is running back Felix Jones. While Jones is a good runner, DeMarco Murray is filling in nicely and looks like he might be ready to take over the lead role anyway. There are rumors the two will split time as starter even when Jones returns but Murray has done enough in the last two games to prove that he might be the man to lead Dallas instead of Jones regardless of health.
Sean Lee is the biggest loss on the entire roster. There is a real chance he will miss the Seattle game with a dislocated wrist. Lee won't have surgery on the wrist, playing with a cast when he returns. Next to DeMarcus Ware, Lee is the best player on the vastly improved Dallas defense. Dallas needs Lee back in their lineup, because without him, they are just not as dominant in the middle of the field. I am worried about Lee's cast as well. He will still get his tackles but how limited will the cast make him?
How important is a punter? In Dallas' case, McBriar is one of the greatest punters in the NFL today. He easily pins opponents inside the 20, but after he left the game injured, Dallas didn't pin another Eagles returner behind the 20. McBriar has nerve damage in his non-kicking foot, which will keep him out since he needs it to plant himself. Dallas signed undrafted free agent Chris Jones from the practice squad to possibly replace him for punting duties. Jones is a complete unknown, so this is a scary proposition if McBriar misses much time.
The worst injury for the Dallas Cowboys is to Mike Jenkins, who will miss up to a month with a hamstring injury. Dallas has been shorthanded at cornerback all season, with Terrance Newman missing the start of the season. While Jenkins is out, Orlando Scandrick will start in his place. Scandrick has only 15 tackles in four games played in 2011.
Author Shawn S. Lealos has followed the Dallas Cowboys since he was a child, his favorite players range from Roger Staubach and Tony Dorsett to the Triplets of the 90s. Through the great years of the '90s and the hard times of the '80s, Shawn never turned his back on America's Team.
