The Dallas Cowboys have only played two games in this young NFL season. But they have enough injuries to fill multiple teams' injury reports. Here is an update on their injuries.
Against the San Francisco 49ers, Romo played through injuries and rallied the team to a stunning overtime win. He finished the game so he must be okay, right? Wrong. Romo has a punctured lung and fractured rib. That sounds painful, but Romo may play Monday night against the Washington Redskins. His status is uncertain right now. Out
Wide receiver Miles Austin had a great game last Sunday, but he paid the price. Austin re-injured his hamstring during the game. He could be out for the next few weeks. Center Phil Costa re-injured his knee in that game as well. He will likely be out for the next game. That does not bode well for the young, inexperienced and thin offensive line of the Cowboys. Rookie starting guard Bill Nagy missed the last game due to injury. Cornerback Orlando Scandrick also missed the game.
Injured But Will Play
Felix Jones injured his shoulder early in the game against the 49ers. He played through it and should be available on Monday night. Tight end Jason Witten also injured his ribs against the 49ers. But it will take more than that to keep Witten out of the game. Cornerback Mike Jenkins has battled injuries all year but he has been able to stay on the field so far. Jenkins should be there against the Redskins.
Returning From Injury
Cornerback Terence Newman missed the first two games with a groin injury. He says he will be back this week. Explosive wide receiver Dez Bryant missed the last game with a thigh bruise. Initial reports last week stated that he would play but the Cowboys held him out. The Cowboys are optimistic about Bryant returning this week.
With all of the injuries on the team, head coach Jason Garrett is giving the players an extra day off this week. It also helps that the team does not play until Monday night. This game is their home opener against their rivals. The undefeated Redskins are playing with confidence. You can be sure that the home crowd will be there, pumped up in primetime. But which of the Cowboys will suit up? By the look of the injury report, other players will have to step up.

My 2011-12 NFL picks for Week 3: Fan's take
Edwin Torres has been a fan of the Dallas Cowboys since the days of Tony Dorsett and Roger Staubach. He enjoyed watching the Dallas teams of the 90s dominate opponents on both sides of the ball. Living in New Jersey, he is sandwiched between Giants and Eagles fans. But that has never deterred him from being a fan of America's team.
