For most NFL teams, there's no place like home.
That isn't the case this season for the New York Giants, who are 3-4 as home team. In those games, New York has been outscored 171-155.
"If I had an answer to that, it wouldn't ever happen," said head coach Tom Coughlin about the Giants' struggles at home.
"I don't think it has anything to do with home games," said safety Antrel Rolle of the Giants' unfavorable record in their home stadium. "I think it just has to do with being consistent in general. I don't think we've been a consistent team all year long."
Linebacker Michael Boley agreed with his teammate. "At times during the season, we've played teams that we knew we were better than them but we just came out and didn't show it, so we've had to take that away from our game."
This week, the Giants have perhaps their biggest home game this year when they host the Dallas Cowboys in the regular season finale in a game that will decide the NFC East champion.
As they prepare to face a desperate Cowboys team that is 3-4 this year on the road and which defeated New York last year 33-20, the Giants aren't worried about past statistics or trends.
"The past really doesn't matter right now—it's all about what we're looking forward to at this point," said Rolle. "We're in playoff mode at this point and we understand that and we're going to go out there and keep our eye on the prize.
