While many teams fear it, Twitter has become one of the best places for fans to get to know their favorite players better. It is also a place where people can learn what is going on with their favorite teams, keep tabs on news before the news sites even pick it up and often debate and have your voice heard by your favorite athletes. The NFL has a number of players who participate on Twitter and here are some of the best Dallas Cowboys players to follow throughout the NFL season.

Jason Witten @JasonWitten

Jason Witten is one of the longest standing and most respected members of the Dallas Cowboys team. He won't spam you with needless tweets but, when he does leave messages, it is something his fans are willing to pay attention to. "Tough loss for us tonight!! Got a great group of Guys tho! Headed in the right direction! Excited for the season," he said on Twitter. It is enough to get any Cowboys fan excited.

Tashard Choice @tchoice23

"Grammys are terrible how come I don't kno any people that win. Well I'm turning to To catch a predator." Wow, that is a loaded statement by the Dallas Cowboys running back. However, that is what you will get when following this athlete, who always seems to have interesting, pop culture related tweets to keep you entertained.

Stephen McGee @StephenMcGee07

He is the third string quarterback and he has an interesting perspective on the game. "Every day is a privilege esp w the star on helmet!," McGee tweeted and that is something any die hard Cowboys fan wants to hear. Plus, he is willing to talk smack as far as his college team Texas A&M is concerned.

Dez Bryant @DEZ_88

The Dallas Cowboys hope that Dez Bryant will be their star wide receiver of the future and fans should be happy to know he is one of the most active Twitter stars on the entire team. He'll average up to four or five tweets a day when he gets rolling and often starts conversations with fans about the best places to eat when he hits a new town. With over 100,000 followers, he is easily the most popular Cowboys player on Twitter.

Miles Austin @MilesAustinIII

Of course, Bryant's receiving partner Miles Austin also has a Twitter account and, while he tweets much less than Bryant, he seems to go in spurts. In July, he made sure people knew that he loved Jay-Z and quoted him non-stop throughout the month. In August, he has been on Twitter much less but Cowboys fans can only hope that means he is getting ready for a rebound year on the field.

Author Shawn S. Lealos has been a Dallas Cowboys football fan since the '70s, when his favorite players were Roger Staubach and Tony Dorsett. He still loves them as much today as he did then.
