There is no way to watch the Dallas Cowboys battle the Washington Redskins and not expect to see something exciting. The team's two games in 2011 were no different. After Dallas beat the Redskins in a battle of field goals earlier in the year, they needed overtime to finish the sweep of Washington on Nov. 20.

The game was exciting and frustrating for Cowboys fans. Washington played their best game since their six-game losing streak began. Washington had scored one touchdown in their last three games combined but scored three against Dallas. If not for two missed field goals by Graham Gano, Washington would have beat the Cowboys.

Rex Grossman had a great game, throwing for 289 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while also running for a touchdown. Jabar Gaffney was the star on the team, with seven receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown, but newly acquired Donte' Stallworth came to life as well with four receptions for 51 yards and a score. Stallworth was the focus at the end, making some great catches as the Redskins marched down to tie the game up.

On the Dallas side of the field, Felix Jones returned but DeMarco Murray carried the ball 25 times for 73 yards compared to five carries by Jones for 18 yards. It was Murray's worst average since becoming the starter but the Redskins defense was tenacious when he touched the ball, getting to him quickly and wrapping up his legs, Murray's most lethal weapon. What makes Murray dangerous are legs that never stop moving and Washington has to be credited for eliminating that threat.

Tony Romo was spectacular once again, completing 23-of-37 for 292 yards, three touchdowns and no turnovers. His touchdowns were spread out between Jason Witten, Dez Bryant and Laurent Robinson while Murray was his number one target, with six receptions for 32 yards.

Finally, Dan Bailey continues to be a perfect weapon for Dallas. While the Redskins missed a pair of field goals that could have given them the win, Bailey was perfect again for Dallas. Bailey has not missed a field goal since Week 2 and has hit 22 straight without a miss and is 23-of-24 in his rookie season.

Dallas has a short week before they take on the suddenly hot Miami Dolphins and then have a favorable game with Arizona before taking on the New York Giants, with the NFC East title at stake. At 6-4, with three wins in a row, Dallas looks to be heating up at just the right time.

Author Shawn S. Lealos has followed the Dallas Cowboys since he was a child, his favorite players range from Roger Staubach and Tony Dorsett to the Triplets of the 90s. Through the great years of the '90s and the hard times of the '80s, Shawn never turned his back on America's Team.
