With all the controversy concerning the NFL running a regular season game in London, Jerry Jones is now hinting that the Dallas Cowboys might be interested in playing a game in Mexico during the regular season. The London game is currently on hold while the St. Louis Rams' stadium filed a legal injunction, but with Jones owning Dallas Cowboys' stadium, that shouldn't be a problem.
I have a slight problem with this as a fan because I feel bad for the season ticket holders. I almost guarantee they won't lower the price on season tickets but will eliminate one home game to make room for it. I am pretty sure that is the problem with the London game since it takes one game away from St. Louis, the town the team is supposed to represent.
I like the idea of playing preseason games in London and Mexico. That gives foreign countries a chance to see NFL football and I am sure helps raise awareness and make even more money for the NFL.
But, I am completely against games in foreign countries the regular season. For one thing, the travel to Europe eliminates a lot of the practice for the week, and as I said earlier, it takes a game away from the community that it is supposed to represent. St. Louis Rams fans are asked to support their team, and as a result, have a home game taken away from them.
Besides, everyone knows that football in Europe is soccer.
Here is a problem with Dallas playing in Mexico. Do you really think that Jerry Jones will give up a home game in his palace, losing a lot of money as a result? That means, if this happens, he will probably ask another team that Dallas plays a road game against to give up their home game for this opportunity.
How many teams want to give up an entire home game day to play in a foreign country?
