The Dallas Cowboys welcomed the Buffalo Bills to Arlington, Texas, and played their best game of the season. Whether it was the offensive side of the ball or Rob Ryan's defense, the Cowboys put on a performance to remind everyone they are not a team to take lightly. The Dallas Cowboys beat the Buffalo Bills, 44-7, on Sunday, Nov. 13.
Interestingly enough, the Cowboys played without their No. 1 running back Felix Jones and No. 1 receiver Miles Austin but still looked like a contender. Dallas racked up 433 total offensive yards behind rookie DeMarco Murray, second year receiver Dez Bryant and free agent pickup Laurent Robinson.
Tony Romo was almost perfect, with only three incompletions while throwing three touchdowns in the game. Bryant caught six of the passes for 74 yards and a touchdown while Robinson caught three for 73 yards and two scores. Murray ran for 135 yards and a touchdown, totaling 601 rushing yards in his four starts.
Laurent Robinson, a St. Louis Rams castoff, came to the Cowboys in Week 3 after Miles Austin went down with his first hamstring injury. He now has four touchdowns on the season for Dallas, matching Austin's totals on the season. Dez Bryant, on the other hand, has five touchdowns on the season and has been heating up since Austin went down this last time.
On the defensive side of the ball, Sean Lee made his triumphant return to the defense but, surprisingly, it was much maligned Keith Brooking who led the team with five tackles. They couldn't keep Jackson from hitting the 100-yard mark but kept him out of the end zone. The defense also turned up the volume on Ryan Fitzpatrick, who finished the game with three interceptions, two to Terrance Newman. DeMarco Ware also picked up his 13th sack of the year, temporarily moving him into the NFL lead.
This was a statement game. The Cowboys took on one of the NFL's surprise 2011 teams and pulled two games ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles, who fell to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday as well. With games the next three weeks against Washington, Miami and Arizona, this is Dallas' chance to make their case for the 2011 playoffs.
