Maybe Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has some optimism a labor deal will be struck in the relatively near future.

That’s because the team has officially set dates for training camp. The Cowboys are set to begin practicing at the Alamodome in San Antonio on July 29, according to the San Antonio Express-News. The club will begin moving equipment into place in advance on July 25. The team has use of the facility through Aug. 13. The Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets have cancelled plans to hold their training camps at nearby colleges because of the labor situation.

The Cowboys are expected to return to Valley Ranch after their trip to San Antonio. Some blamed the team’s whirlwind tour last summer with camp in San Antonio and Oxnard, Calif., for the team’s terrible start. Dallas also played an extra preseason game in the Hall of Fame Game.

Of course, camp will not start if a new collective bargaining agreement isn’t in place.
