COWBOYS HAVE KICKING COMPETITION BREWING

The Dallas Cowboys have done their best to low-key the situation, but they’ve got a good ol’ fashioned kicking competition going on as the regular season looms 17 days away.

Veteran Shayne Graham was signed Tuesday and it looks like he’s locked in a three-way battle with David Buehler, the incumbent, and Dan Bailey right now. Making the matter a little more murky is the fact that Buehler, who made 24 of 32 field goals last season, is dealing with a hip injury. Buehler is in his third season with the team and spent his rookie year in 2009 handling kickoff duties.

Graham was cut by the Washington Redskins earlier in preseason but he is a proven veteran and made all 12 of his field goal attempts last season when he was spelling for Stephen Gostkowski for the New England Patriots.

“We don’t know who our kicker will be,” one Cowboys veteran said.

It’s a position clubs like to keep the pressure on, that’s for sure. The heat is on Buehler right now.
