On Sunday October 30, 2011, the Dallas Cowboys hit a new low in their embarrassing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. As a Cowboys fan, this was a very difficult game to watch. Here are my thoughts on the game.
Unprepared
The Cowboys looked completely unprepared for this game. Offensively, they could not score on the Eagles (no, I do not count their meaningless touchdown late in the game). Defensively, they could not stop the Eagles. The Eagles racked up close to 500 yards of total offense. Their first four possessions were touchdown, touchdown, touchdown and field goal. The Cowboys went punt, interception, punt and punt. The Cowboys were not ready for this game.
Someone Has to Pay
Who do I blame for this loss? Head coach Jason Garrett. The Cowboys have enough talent to play a competitive game against the Eagles. Garrett looked like he was in over his head last night. It is his job to prepare the Cowboys to play. He is supposed to devise an effective game plan. He has to make in-game adjustments. None of this happened last night.
No Defending
The defense has played well all season. Last night it was nonexistent. Other than DeMarcus Ware (10 tackles, 4 sacks), the defense was horrible. I think it could have been different if the Cowboys scored points to keep the game close. I think the defense would have settled in. But that did not happen. The offense did nothing in the first half and the defense was on the field too much.
First Blowout Loss
Prior to last night, the Cowboys were in every game this year. I accepted the close losses because the Cowboys were in position to win against good teams. Last night, the Cowboys were never in the game.
Dream Team
The Eagles finally looked like the "Dream Team" last night. They did everything right. The Eagles displayed a balanced offensive attack. The defense completely shut down the Cowboys. Vick was unstoppable.
The Cowboys suffered an embarrassing loss against the Eagles last night. It was a new low for the Cowboys. This season has been a roller coaster ride for Cowboys fans. But now I want to get off.

Edwin Torres has been a fan of the Dallas Cowboys since the days of Tony Dorsett and Roger Staubach. He enjoyed watching the Dallas teams of the 90s dominate opponents on both sides of the ball. Living in New Jersey, he is sandwiched between Giants and Eagles fans. But that has never deterred him from being a fan of America's team.
